KMC Controls Teams Up with Dell at FMA’s Future Facilities Summit in Atlanta, GA

IoT and building automation company KMC Controls is partnering with technology leader Dell at FMA’s Future Facilities Summit on May 15–17, 2017. Taking place at Chateau Elan Winery, just north of Atlanta, GA, KMC Controls, Dell and 24 other top smart solutions providers are coming together with 100 leaders from Fortune 500 & 1000 companies to discuss the future of smart buildings and IoT.

At the gathering, KMC Controls will be delivering a keynote presentation about smart buildings and KMC Commander. Built on the Dell Edge Gateway, KMC Commander delivers an IoT platform that allows business owners to connect meters, sensors and devices to the gateway and securely transmit that data to the cloud. KMC Commander then delivers standard analytics like histories, trends, alarms and schedules, and with a commitment to open standards, an API is provided to allow the data to be used in a user’s analytics package of choice. Plus, KMC Commander has built in support for controlling certain devices through the platform, giving great flexibility to end users in a very affordable package.

“The potential for IoT in the building space is nearly limitless. Whether it’s remote facility monitoring, multi-building data aggregation, or the building of an energy management strategy, IoT is playing a critical role,” says KMC Controls’ Chairman Advisor and CEO, Richard Newberry. “KMC Commander is a platform for companies to build their IoT strategy, and with our partners Intel and Dell, we’re seeing this potential play out in nearly every vertical.”

Having been partners in the space for nearly 3 years, it only makes sense for KMC Controls and Dell to team up for such an event as the Future Facilities Summit.

As Jeff Brown, VP, Global IoT and Embedded Sales, at Dell EMC put it, “We are deeply focused on the IoT. The Dell Edge Gateway is an ideal piece of hardware for a number of verticals, smart buildings being a clear one. And with partners like KMC Controls bringing their industry specific expertise to the table, Summit attendees will get a glimpse into the importance of collaboration, as well as see a viable solution on which to start building their IoT strategy.”

This event comes on the heels of the announcement of the EdgeX Foundry, a Linux Foundation initiative to drive interoperability; a project of which Dell EMC and KMC Controls are both founding members. With this shared commitment to open solutions and unified vision for how IoT will be successful, the two companies are excited about their future collaboration.

“When it comes to IoT, no one company can or will be all things to all people. IoT’s success will be dictated by the strength of solutions providers to partner, coordinate and collaborate. As OT (operational technology) and IT (information technology) continue their convergence, this cooperation will become even more important. Our domain expertise combined with Intel and Dell’s is a powerful match, and we’re excited to share what we’re seeing with the Summit crowd.”
